The Bay Area Argentine Tango Association was founded in 1992. It is the oldest largest group to promote the art of Argentine Tango on the West Coast.

Today, the Association works with a community of over 500 tangueros as a central clearing house. BATango’s focus is on providing education through scholarships, workshops, along with assisting in bringing dancers and musicians from Argentina to teach and perform.

In order to better serve the Argentine Tango Community BATango set up an education foundation. These funds areused to assist ourdancers and promote tango. Your supportis greatly appreciated.
In addition to membership fees, we can always use volunteer labor. We need help with our, web site, events list, andmembership processes.

Tired of football and too much dinner? Tango & More, formerly Tango A Media Luz, invites the general public to an evening of Argentine tango dancing merriment. This year the theme is the 1920s. Program includes social tango dancing to live and recorded Argentine tango music and dance performance by DanzArgentina and special guests. Menu is hors d'oeuvres, desserts, beverages. The venue boasts 1920s Art Nouveau architecture and free parking. The Lake Merritt Dance Center is housed in the Oakland Veterans Hall, half a block from the new Oakland Whole Foods. Hombres de Tango features Seth Asarnow on bandoneon, the quintessential Argentine musical instrument. This Bay Area ensemble is a favorite with both tangueros and the Argentine community. Seth Asarnow has been featured by the San Francisco Symphony, Chamber Music San Franciso, and other orchestras locally and abroad.
