Opening Season Concert and Celebration… The artists performing on this program will include prominent bay area tango Bandoneon-ista, Seth Asarnow with versatile San Francisco Guitarist, and former member of the Modern Mandolin Quartet, John Imholz.

They will be joined by San Antonio Symphony Concertmaster, Ertan Torgul, Symphony Silicon Valley Principal Bassist, Bill Everett, and bay area pianist, Aileen Chanco.

The spirit of crossing borders followed Astor Piazzolla throughout his whole life, and he created a synthesis between the traditional danced tango of Argentina and influences from classical music and jazz in his compositions, his so-called "Tango Nuevo". Come join us in an exploration of how the classical world came into Piazzolla's own, and the incredible influence his music had on composers as far flung as Russia and Georgia.
